Brownsburg, Indiana (June 2, 2011) — Seeking to gain more oval track experience in his racing career, Ireland’s Ali Jackson has moved to the Indianapolis area and kicked off his 2011 race season at the Bryant Heating & Cooling Indianapolis Speedrome on Wednesday, June 1. Jackson’s move across the Atlantic has so far proven more than luck for this Irishman as he earned a top-five finish in the Nine Racing midget while competing in the first USAC Mopar D1 Midget Car Pavement Series event of the season.
Ali worked closely with crew chief Glenn Martin to get the car dialed in during the three practice sessions for the heat race and main event, which proved successful as Ali won his heat race. He transferred to the 40-lap main event, along with eight other cars. Ali lined up in the sixth starting spot, and in typical Speedrome fashion, plenty of racing action took place, and Ali finished the event in fifth place.
“This is a great track and it is a fun place to race,” commented Ali Jackson. “I am learning how to get the most out of the car and keep it in one piece. I was pleased with a top-five finish and I know with the help of Glenn Martin and Billy Wease that I will get more comfortable here as the season progresses.”
Ali Jackson has made the commitment to run the entire USAC Mopar D1 Midget Car Pavement Series with the Nine Racing team. Ali will return to the Bryant Heating & Cooling Indianapolis Speedrome on Wednesday, June 15, for the next USAC Mopar D1 Midget Car Pavement race.
Nine Racing’s 2011 sponsor lineup includes K&N Engineering, Eibach Springs, Weld Racing, Klotz Synthetic Lubricants, Penske Racing Shocks, Performance Friction Brakes, ASE, Earl’s Performance Plumbing, SSi Decals, PJ1, and Hoosier Racing Tire.
